2D Echo Price Philippines 2026: Hospital & Doppler Rates

A routine adult 2D echo in the Philippines currently costs around ₱2,500–₱3,350 among several directly published government-hospital rates reviewed by CareCostPH.
For a 2D echo with Doppler, current published or bookable adult rates we found range from around ₱2,650 to ₱4,490, depending on the hospital, diagnostic center and whether the price is a promotional online-booking rate.
Pediatric echocardiography can cost more, particularly when Doppler or specialist interpretation is included.
2D Echo Prices in the Philippines
| 2D Echo Type | Published Prices We Found | Important Note |
|---|---|---|
| Standard adult 2D echo | ₱2,500–₱3,350 | Based on current direct facility price pages reviewed |
| Adult 2D echo with Doppler | ₱2,650–₱4,490 | Includes current booking and direct hospital examples |
| Pediatric 2D echo | ₱2,600–₱3,000 | Basic/unspecified published government rates |
| Pediatric 2D echo with Doppler | ₱4,982+ | Current Chong Hua rate; some private booking rates are higher |
| Portable 2D echo | ₱3,800–₱5,000 | Older 2023 DOH schedule; useful as a reference, not a current nationwide rate |
These are observed published rates, not an official Philippine average.
The exact test written on your doctor’s request matters. A standard 2D echo, 2D echo with Doppler, pediatric echo, portable study and stress echo are not interchangeable services.
Current 2D Echo Prices at Philippine Hospitals
Here are actual rates CareCost PH was able to verify from healthcare-provider and government hospital pages.
| Facility | 2D Echo Service | Published Price |
|---|---|---|
| Amai Pakpak Medical Center | 2D Echo | ₱2,500 |
| Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center | 2D Echo | ₱3,000 |
| Cagayan Valley Medical Center / CDH price list | 2D Echo | ₱3,000 |
| Zamboanga Regional Medical Center | Adult 2D Echo | ₱3,350 |
| Zamboanga Regional Medical Center | Pediatric 2D Echo | ₱3,000 |
| Zamboanga Regional Medical Center | 2D Echo Doppler, Ciudad/DOH | ₱4,490 |
| Chong Hua Hospital | Adult 2D Echo with Doppler | ₱4,378 |
| Chong Hua Hospital | Pediatric 2D Echo with Doppler | ₱4,982 |
Amai Pakpak Medical Center’s current public rate page lists ₱2,500 for 2D echo. Bicol Region General Hospital and Cagayan Valley’s current price pages each show ₱3,000.
Zamboanga Regional Medical Center lists several variants, including ₱3,350 for adult 2D echo, ₱3,000 for pediatric 2D echo and ₱4,490 for a 2D echo Doppler service.
Chong Hua’s prices are especially useful for freshness because its published list identifies an effective date of August 26, 2026. It lists adult 2D echo with Doppler at ₱4,378 and pediatric Doppler at ₱4,982.
Each type of scan has its own pricing, and an X-ray is often part of the same diagnostic process. You can check the X-ray cost.
Current Private Diagnostic-Center Booking Prices
Hospital list prices are not the only option. Hati Health currently lists adult 2D echo with Doppler across dozens of partner clinics, with prices starting from ₱2,650.
Examples visible in its current listings include:
| Provider | Current Online Price |
|---|---|
| Access Laboratory | ₱2,650 |
| Exact Check | ₱3,000 |
| Hi-Precision | ₱3,900 |
| Ashrey Diagnostic Center | ₱3,999 |
| Healthway QualiMed | ₱4,375 |
These are online/promotional booking prices, not necessarily the provider’s normal walk-in rate. Hati also shows higher crossed-out regular prices for some services.
This distinction matters when comparing prices. A ₱3,000 online offer should not automatically be treated as the provider’s permanent nationwide rate.
Plain 2D Echo vs 2D Echo With Doppler
A 2D echocardiogram uses ultrasound to create moving images of the heart. Doppler adds information about the speed and direction of blood moving through the heart and its valves.
Some Philippine facilities list plain 2D echo and Doppler separately, while others mainly offer or advertise a combined 2D echo with Doppler.
An older but still useful official Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital schedule shows how the pricing can differ:
| Procedure | Published 2023 Rate |
|---|---|
| 2D Echo Scan | ₱2,800 |
| 2D Echo with Doppler | ₱4,000 |
| Portable 2D Echo | ₱3,800 |
| Portable 2D Echo with Doppler | ₱5,000 |
Because these are 2023 rates, use them mainly to understand the price difference between procedure types rather than as a current national benchmark.
Pediatric 2D Echo Price
A pediatric 2D echo may be priced differently from an adult study. Current examples include:
- ₱2,600 for pediatric/NICU 2D echo at Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital
- ₱3,000 for pediatric 2D echo at Zamboanga Regional Medical Center
- ₱4,982 for pediatric 2D echo with Doppler at Chong Hua Hospital
A current Healthway QualiMed Manila booking through Hati lists pediatric 2D echo at ₱6,450 promotional price, showing that private pediatric rates can be substantially higher depending on provider and service.
Do not compare a basic pediatric rate with a pediatric Doppler study without checking exactly what is included.
Government vs Private 2D Echo Prices
Government hospitals currently provide several of the lower directly published rates we found:
| Facility Type | Example |
|---|---|
| Government — Amai Pakpak Medical Center | ₱2,500 |
| Government — BRGHGMC | ₱3,000 |
| Government — Zamboanga Regional Medical Center | ₱3,350 adult |
| Private — Chong Hua, adult Doppler | ₱4,378 |
| Private diagnostic booking — Hati partner clinics | From ₱2,650 |
Government hospitals can therefore be economical, but “private always costs more” is too simple.
Discounted diagnostic-center rates can compete with public-hospital prices, and the procedure type may differ. Compare the exact same service before deciding which option is cheaper.
Each type of scan has its own pricing, and a thyroid ultrasound is often part of the same diagnostic process. You can check the thyroid scan price.
Does the Price Include the Cardiologist’s Reading Fee?
Not always. This is one of the most important questions to ask. Some hospitals combine the procedure and interpretation into one charge, while others separate the echo fee and reading/professional fee.
For example, an older official Cagayan Valley hospital schedule separated:
- Plain 2D echo procedure fee
- Reading fee
- Total price
It listed a combined total of ₱2,000 for plain 2D echo and ₱3,000 for 2D echo with Doppler at that time. Current hospital price pages may simply display one 2D echo rate without explaining every component. Before paying, ask:
“Kasama na po ba ang reading or cardiologist fee sa price?”
That question can prevent an unexpected extra charge.
What Can Affect the Final Price?
The main reasons one 2D echo costs more than another are usually:
- Plain study vs Doppler study
- Adult vs pediatric examination
- Portable/bedside examination
- Specialist or cardiologist interpretation
- Hospital vs diagnostic center
- Promotional booking price
- Additional cardiac imaging such as strain or contrast
- HMO coverage
- Senior citizen or PWD discount
Advanced studies should not be compared with routine 2D echo. For example, a stress echo, fetal echo, transesophageal echo or echo with strain can have a substantially different price.
Do You Need a Doctor’s Request for a 2D Echo?
You should generally expect the facility to ask for a doctor’s request. Chong Hua Hospital’s official FAQ specifically states that a written prescription from the attending, referring or requesting physician must be presented so that the correct procedure can be performed.
Hi-Precision and other providers listed through Hati also instruct patients to bring their doctor’s request. Requirements can differ by facility, so check before travelling to the branch.
Do You Need to Fast Before a 2D Echo?
For a standard transthoracic 2D echo, special preparation is usually not required. Mayo Clinic states that people can generally eat, drink and take their usual medicines before a standard transthoracic echocardiogram.
Current Philippine diagnostic-center instructions also commonly advise patients to:
- Bring the doctor’s request
- Wear clothing that is easy to remove from the waist up
- Avoid creams or lotions on the chest area
Different instructions apply to specialized procedures such as a transesophageal echo or stress echo, so always follow the instructions given for the exact test you were prescribed.
How Long Does a 2D Echo Take?
A standard echocardiogram generally takes around 30 to 60 minutes. Mayo Clinic says a standard echo commonly takes approximately 30–40 minutes, while the American Heart Association notes that echocardiography commonly takes around 40–60 minutes.
Your total visit may take longer because of registration, waiting time and report processing. Ask the facility separately when the official interpretation/report will be released, because this varies much more than the scan time itself.
Does PhilHealth Cover 2D Echo?
Do not assume that a routine walk-in 2D echo will automatically be paid by PhilHealth. On PhilHealth’s current public benefits page, a routine standalone outpatient 2D echocardiogram is not listed in the same way as separately defined outpatient benefits such as radiotherapy or outpatient blood transfusion.
However, 2D echocardiography can form part of certain PhilHealth-covered cardiac or disease-specific pathways and Z Benefit requirements. For example, PhilHealth identifies 2D echocardiography within the eligibility/diagnostic criteria for some congenital-heart Z Benefit packages.
That means:
PhilHealth coverage for the patient’s overall condition or hospital episode is not the same thing as saying PhilHealth has one fixed nationwide outpatient 2D echo price.
Before the test, ask the hospital:
- Is this 2D echo covered under my current PhilHealth case/package?
- Is the test being billed separately or as part of an admission/package?
- Is this facility PhilHealth-accredited?
- What amount, if any, will I pay personally?
Can an HMO Cover 2D Echo?
Yes, some HMO plans and accredited facilities cover 2D echocardiography, but coverage depends on the plan. For example, Exact Check’s current Hati listing identifies the facility as HMO-accepting and says HMO users need a Letter of Authorization (LOA).
Before booking, confirm:
- Is 2D echo included in my plan?
- Is Doppler also covered?
- Is the facility accredited?
- Do I need an LOA?
- Do I need a cardiologist’s request?
- Is the reading fee covered?
- Is there a co-payment or annual limit?
Do not assume that an HMO card automatically covers every cardiac test.
Senior Citizen Discount on 2D Echo
For eligible senior citizens, Philippine law provides a 20% discount and VAT exemption, where applicable, on medically necessary diagnostic and laboratory services in private facilities when requested by a physician.
The rules for government facilities and how benefits interact with PhilHealth may differ. Bring your valid senior citizen ID and ask the billing department to calculate the applicable amount instead of subtracting 20% yourself from an online price.
PWD Discount on 2D Echo
Qualified persons with disability are similarly entitled to at least a 20% discount and VAT exemption on eligible medical, diagnostic and laboratory services, subject to the applicable requirements.
If you also have PhilHealth or HMO coverage, ask the billing department how the benefits are applied together.
2D Echo vs ECG: They Are Different Tests
An ECG and a 2D echo are not the same test. An ECG records the heart’s electrical activity. A 2D echocardiogram uses ultrasound to look at the heart’s structure and function, including chambers, valves and pumping motion.
This explains why an ECG may cost only a few hundred pesos while a 2D echo typically costs several thousand. If your doctor ordered both tests, do not assume one can replace the other.
Before You Book: Ask These Questions
Before choosing the cheapest quote, ask the hospital or diagnostic center:
- Is this plain 2D echo or 2D echo with Doppler?
- Is the cardiologist/reading fee included?
- Is this the total cash price?
- Do I need an appointment?
- Do I need a doctor’s request?
- Is my HMO accepted?
- Do I need an LOA?
- Can PhilHealth apply to my case?
- Does my senior/PWD discount apply?
- When will the official result be available?
This gives you a much fairer comparison than simply asking, “Magkano ang 2D echo?”
Frequently Asked Questions
Magkano ang 2D echo sa Pilipinas?
For a routine adult 2D echo, current directly published facility rates reviewed by CareCost PH range from approximately ₱2,500 to ₱3,350.
A study with Doppler may cost more. Current Doppler examples range from promotional diagnostic-center rates starting at around ₱2,650 to direct hospital rates around ₱4,378–₱4,490.
How much is 2D echo with Doppler?
Current examples include ₱4,378 at Chong Hua Hospital and ₱4,490 in one Zamboanga Regional Medical Center listing. Hati currently shows promotional adult Doppler bookings starting from ₱2,650 at participating diagnostic centers.
Is 2D echo more expensive for children?
It can be. Current published examples range from ₱2,600–₱3,000 for some government pediatric services to ₱4,982 for pediatric Doppler at Chong Hua. A current Healthway QualiMed online booking is listed higher at ₱6,450.
Can I get a 2D echo without a doctor’s request?
Do not assume so. Chong Hua specifically requires a written request, and current Hi-Precision booking instructions also tell patients to bring a doctor’s request.
Is fasting required for 2D echo?
Normally not for a standard transthoracic echo. You can generally eat and drink normally unless the facility gives different instructions. Specialized echo procedures can have different preparation requirements.
How long does a 2D echo take?
The scan itself commonly takes around 30–60 minutes, although waiting and report-release time can make the total visit longer.
Is 2D echo covered by an HMO?
It can be, depending on your plan, facility accreditation and authorization requirements. Some facilities require an LOA before the procedure.
How CareCost PH Checked These Prices
CareCost PH reviewed publicly available prices from Philippine government hospitals, DOH facilities, private hospitals and current diagnostic-service booking platforms.
Priority was given to direct provider pricing.
Current primary-source examples include:
- Amai Pakpak Medical Center
- Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center
- Zamboanga Regional Medical Center
- Chong Hua Hospital
- Cagayan Valley hospital price information
Chong Hua’s rates are especially current, with an effective date of August 26, 2026.
Older official rates were used only when they provided useful information that newer sources did not clearly show, such as the price difference between plain, Doppler and portable echocardiography.
Prices checked: September 21, 2026.

What You May Actually Pay
For most people comparing routine 2D echo prices, a practical budget based on the current rates reviewed is:
Around ₱2,500–₱3,350 for a routine adult study at several government facilities, and roughly ₱2,650–₱4,500 for many current adult Doppler examples.
But check what the quotation includes.
A cheaper ₱2,500 test plus a separate reading fee can potentially end up closer to a higher all-inclusive quotation.
The best comparison is therefore:
exact procedure + reading fee + doctor request requirement + HMO/discount eligibility + result/report fee.
Medical note: Prices are for general information and can change. Confirm the current price and inclusions directly with the facility. The decision to undergo a 2D echo should be based on advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
If your doctor recommends an EEG test as a follow-up, you can check the EEG test cost to include it in your budget.
