Cardio Clearance Price in the Philippines: Doctor’s Fees and Test Costs

Cardiologist discussing ECG results with a patient during a cardio clearance consultation in the Philippines.

Quick answer: There is no single all-in cardio clearance price in the Philippines. Selected private cardiologists list ₱1,000 to ₱2,000 for an in-person consultation, with tests and any separate clearance charge added. For a specific hospital reference, Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital lists ₱2,500 for standard outpatient cardiopulmonary clearance. Confirm the inclusions before treating either amount as your complete budget.

When it is used: Cardio clearance assesses heart-related risk before surgery, a procedure or another activity requiring medical approval. The doctor reviews your history, symptoms, examination and any necessary test results. Cardiopulmonary or CP clearance also considers lung-related risk, so check exactly what your surgeon or requesting organization needs. The assessment helps the treating team plan care; it does not guarantee that a procedure will be free of complications.

Cardio Clearance Price

ServicePublished price example
Private cardiologist consultation₱1,000–₱2,000 across selected clinic listings
Standard outpatient CP clearance at Fabella₱2,500
Standard inpatient CP clearance at Fabella₱3,500
ECG at Fabella₱200 service / ₱250 pay
ECG plus adult Doppler echo at Chong Hua₱5,428 for the two tests

These are provider-specific examples, not national averages. The ₱5,428 amount is calculated from two separately listed test prices; it is not an advertised clearance package.

Consultation Fee vs. Clearance Fee: What Are You Paying For?

A low consultation price does not necessarily cover the entire clearance process. Your quote may include one or more of the following:

  • Consultation: reviewing your medical history, symptoms and examination findings.
  • Clearance assessment and report: the doctor’s recommendations for the requested procedure or activity.
  • Diagnostic tests: only those requested for your situation.
  • Follow-up: reviewing results or reassessing a condition before issuing the report.

Ask: “Does this amount include the assessment and signed clearance, or is it the consultation fee only?”

A screening package also needs checking. Its test results may help the doctor assess you, but buying the package does not automatically provide medical clearance.

Cardio Clearance Price: Doctors and Hospital Fees

Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital

Fabella’s official rates and charges page lists standard cardiopulmonary clearance at ₱2,500 for outpatients and ₱3,500 for inpatients. It separately lists ECG charges of ₱200 for service patients and ₱250 for pay patients.

Ask the hospital about eligibility, appointments and the exact services included in the clearance fee. Do not assume that every test is bundled into that amount.

Private cardiologist consultation Prices

Dr. Frances Dianne Dela Cruz, Makati Medical Center clinicMakati₱1,200–₱1,500
Dr. Frances Dianne Dela Cruz, Prime Hospital and Medical Center clinicPasig₱1,000

These are individual doctors’ published clinic fees, not hospital-wide rates. Dr. Caballero’s listing says he offers CP clearance but does not confirm that it is included in the consultation price. Dr. Dela Cruz’s listing states that CP clearance has an additional charge without specifying the amount.

How Much Do the Tests Cost?

For a consistent comparison, the table below uses one hospital’s published schedule rather than combining the lowest prices from different facilities.

Test at Chong Hua HospitalPublished procedure price
ECG₱1,050
Chest X-ray, PA or AP₱509
Chest X-ray, PA and lateral₱923
Adult 2D echo with Doppler₱4,378
Complete blood count (CBC)₱450
Treadmill stress test₱2,440
Simple spirometry₱1,760

Source: Chong Hua’s service price list, effective August 26, 2026. The hospital identifies these as procedure charges and excludes medicines and supplies. Confirm interpretation fees and other inclusions when booking.

Budget example: An ECG plus an adult Doppler echo totals ₱5,428 before consultation or clearance. Adding a one-view chest X-ray brings those three tests to ₱5,937. These are calculations from individual prices, not fixed packages or tests everyone needs.

If an echo appears on your request, see our 2D echo price guide for more comparisons.

Which Tests Will You Need?

There is no universal “basic” or “comprehensive” test bundle for every patient. The clinician considers your symptoms, medical history, examination, usual activity level and the planned procedure.

An ECG, chest X-ray, echo and stress test answer different questions. Having high blood pressure or being older does not automatically mean you need all of them.

The 2024 ACC/AHA perioperative guideline recommends selective cardiac testing. Routine stress testing is not recommended for patients at low perioperative risk, those with good functional capacity, or those undergoing low-risk procedures.

Bring your surgeon’s written request and previous results. The doctor can decide whether existing tests are suitable or need updating.

What May Cost Extra?

Possible extra chargeWhat to ask
Separate clearance feeIs the signed report included in the consultation?
Test interpretationDoes the ECG or echo price include the doctor’s reading?
Additional blood testsAre creatinine, blood sugar, electrolytes or clotting tests requested?
Another specialistIs a separate pulmonary assessment needed?
Follow-up consultationIs the visit to review results included?
Updated assessmentWhat happens if the procedure is postponed or your condition changes?

How to Reduce Your Out-of-Pocket Cost

Compare the complete quote

Ask government and private facilities for the total covering the assessment, requested tests, interpretation and report. A cheaper consultation alone may not produce a cheaper final bill.

Compare a package with individual test prices only after the doctor identifies what you need. Check that the package contains the exact requested tests and whether it includes a consultation and signed clearance.

Bring previous results

Take recent ECG tracings, imaging reports, laboratory results and relevant medical records. The clinician may accept them, depending on their age, quality and your current condition.

Check PhilHealth YAKAP eligibility

YAKAP can cover selected primary-care tests, including CBC, ECG, chest X-ray, creatinine and fasting blood sugar, when medically indicated through your registered provider. These are not tests you can automatically claim simply because a surgeon has requested clearance.

Ask your YAKAP clinic which services it can provide under the benefit and whether any permitted charges apply. Do not assume the specialist clearance fee, echo or stress test is covered by the primary-care benefit.

Ask your HMO before booking

Confirm coverage for the named doctor, facility and each requested service. Ask whether a letter of authorization is needed and whether a separate clearance or certificate fee is excluded. Coverage depends on your plan and approval requirements.

Use eligible senior citizen or PWD benefits

Eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities can receive a 20% discount and VAT exemption, where applicable, on covered private medical services, including qualifying professional fees and diagnostic tests. Present the required identification and ask billing to calculate the applicable benefit. Senior citizen and PWD discounts are not added together for the same transaction.

Does PhilHealth Cover Cardio Clearance?

Do not assume that a standalone outpatient clearance is fully covered. Ask which benefit, if any, applies to the consultation and each test.

YAKAP may help with eligible primary-care services, as explained above. If the assessment forms part of a hospital admission or covered procedure, ask the hospital’s PhilHealth desk how the applicable benefit affects your bill. A covered admission does not establish that every separate pre-admission expense is reimbursable.

How Long Does Cardio Clearance Take?

Completion depends on the doctor’s schedule, required tests and when results become available. Same-day completion may be possible when everything needed is available, but do not book on that assumption.

Arrange the assessment early enough to allow additional appointments. Ask the surgical team when it wants the report and how recent the results must be.

Before You Book: Questions to Ask

  • Do I need a cardiologist, an internist or a separate pulmonologist?
  • Does the fee include the assessment and signed clearance?
  • Which tests are required for my case?
  • Can the doctor use my previous results?
  • Are test interpretation and follow-up included?
  • If I buy a package, does it include every requested test, including an ECG if needed?
  • What will my HMO, PhilHealth benefit or eligible discount cover?
  • When will the report be available, and will the requesting hospital accept it?

Is a 2D echo required for cardio clearance?

Not for every patient. The doctor decides whether an echo is necessary based on your clinical situation and the procedure being planned.

Who can issue cardio clearance?

The requesting surgeon or hospital may specify an internist or cardiologist. A pulmonologist may be needed for a separate lung assessment. Confirm the required specialty before paying for an appointment.

Not necessarily. A general medical certificate may not provide the specific risk assessment or recommendations requested for surgery. Tell the clinic exactly what document you need.

How long is cardio clearance valid?

There is no single validity period that applies to every hospital and procedure. Ask the requesting team, especially if your procedure is postponed or your health changes.
