Tetanus Toxoid Vaccine Price in the Philippines: Shot Costs and Free Options

Tetanus toxoid vaccine vial and syringe beside the title “Tetanus Toxoid Vaccine Price in the Philippines.”

Tetanus toxoid shots cost ₱200–₱1,000 per dose in the Philippines. Several options cost less than ₱420, including Hi-Precision’s ₱418.80 vaccine and injection subtotal. Consultation and wound treatment can cost extra. Public programs provide free tetanus-containing vaccination for eligible pregnant women and schoolchildren.

Have a fresh puncture wound, dirty cut or animal bite? Get it assessed promptly. Do not wait for symptoms or for a vaccine ordered online to arrive.

What a tetanus visit can cost

A clinic advertising a ₱200 tetanus shot may charge separately for checking and treating your wound. Here is how a bill can build up using Pallad Health’s published price list:

ItemWhat the charge coversListed price
ConsultationClinical assessment₱400
Wound careWound-care service₱100
Tetanus toxoidVaccine₱200; ₱150 promo
Anti-tetanus serum (ATS)Antitoxin, if prescribedFrom ₱250
Human tetanus immunoglobulin (HTIG)Human antitoxin, if prescribed₱1,800
Suture removalRemoving stitches later, if required₱350

Using the regular ₱200 vaccine price:

Example visitCalculated subtotal
Consultation + wound care + tetanus toxoid₱700
Same services + the listed starting ATS chargeFrom ₱950
Same services + the listed HTIG charge instead₱2,500

These are calculations from separate charges, not packages or treatment recommendations. They assume each charge applies once. The list does not specify the antitoxin strength or quantity, so ₱2,500 is not a ceiling.

Ask about additional supplies, injection and facility fees. A suture-removal charge also does not tell you the cost of putting stitches in.

These are published examples, not a nationwide average. Prices, stock and promotional conditions can change.

The ₱950–₱1,000 offers appear under Hati’s tetanus toxoid listing. A higher price alone does not mean that a clinic is offering Tdap or another combination vaccine.

SureVax’s ₱300 service page says “anti-tetanus,” while its menu uses “Anti-Tetanus (TDAP).” Because those labels are inconsistent, confirm the exact product with the branch. Do not treat ₱300 as a verified Tdap quotation.

Before booking, also check these details:

  • Hati offers: Confirm consultation and administration fees, and whether online booking is required to receive the advertised rate.
  • Hi-Precision: A doctor’s request is required. Its online-store vaccines have a tentative 5–10 working-day order lead time.
  • SureVax: The provider advertises discounts for QC ID holders and HMO partners. Ask about eligibility and the final payable amount.

For a fresh injury, seek a facility that can assess you promptly instead of waiting for a routine online order.

TT, Td or Tdap: which one are you paying for?

“Tetanus shot” can mean different vaccines.

VaccineProtects againstPrice context
TT — tetanus toxoidTetanusThe TT offers in the clinic table above
TdTetanus and diphtheriaFree through eligible public programs; request a separate private-clinic quote
TdapTetanus, diphtheria and pertussis, or whooping cough₱2,370 at Hi-Precision, including its ₱150 administration fee; ₱2,500 at Pallad

Hi-Precision’s Tdap-labelled product costs ₱2,220 before administration. Confirm the supplied vaccine and whether a consultation is charged separately.

If your school, employer or doctor specifies Td or Tdap, check the requirement before booking a cheaper TT shot.

During pregnancy, the distinction matters. The US CDC recommends Tdap during the early third trimester of each pregnancy, mainly to help protect the newborn against whooping cough. A free TT or Td dose does not automatically replace a prescribed Tdap dose. Your prenatal provider should review your records and recommend the product and timing.

Clinics often give several vaccines in one visit. If the HPV vaccine is included in yours, you can check the Gardasil price in the Philippines.

Antitoxins: why serum or immunoglobulin raises the bill

ATS and tetanus immunoglobulin are antitoxins, not vaccines. They supply ready-made antibodies for temporary protection. Vaccination helps your body develop its own protection.

ATS is horse-derived; HTIG is human-derived. They have different safety considerations, so the treating clinician should select the product and dose. Price alone should not determine that choice.

CDC guidance does not recommend TIG for clean, minor wounds. For dirty or major wounds, it is indicated for people with unknown, absent or incomplete tetanus vaccination, and for people with HIV or severe immune deficiency. Bites and puncture wounds can fall into this higher-risk wound group.

Antibiotics may be prescribed for a wound infection, but they are not recommended specifically to prevent tetanus.

On an animal-bite bill, also check the full medicine name: tetanus immunoglobulin and rabies immunoglobulin protect against different infections.

One shot or a series?

The cost depends partly on your vaccination history. These CDC wound-management examples apply to people who completed their primary tetanus series:

SituationVaccine guidance
Last dose less than five years agoGenerally no additional wound-related tetanus dose
Clean, minor wound; last dose at least ten years agoBooster recommended
Dirty or major wound; last dose at least five years agoBooster recommended

Never vaccinated, incomplete series or unknown history? Wound guidance recommends vaccination, and you may need further doses to complete a series. The clinician separately assesses whether immunoglobulin is required.

Outside wound management, CDC recommends adult tetanus boosters every ten years. Bring your vaccination record. If further doses are needed, ask for the dates, vaccine names and charges. One dose’s price is not the price of completing the series.

Where you can get tetanus protection free

Public immunization programs include tetanus protection for these groups:

Who may qualifyVaccine or serviceWhere to ask
Pregnant womenMaternal tetanus vaccination, commonly Td; some local services list TTBarangay health center, rural health unit or city health office
Grade 1 and Grade 7 learnersTd through school-based immunizationSchool nurse, adviser or local health office
InfantsRoutine combination vaccines, including pentavalent vaccine, that provide tetanus protectionLocal health center

For example, Tangub City’s maternal immunization service lists tetanus toxoid with no fees. Its published process requires a valid ID and registration with the midwife.

School-based Td vaccination requires parental or guardian consent. Check the current rollout with your child’s school.

Before visiting, ask about eligibility, vaccine stock, clinic days and the records to bring. Pregnant patients should bring their prenatal and vaccination records.

Free routine vaccination does not guarantee free wound treatment or antitoxin for every adult. Tell the health center what caused an injury and when it happened so staff can assess what care or referral is needed.

If you are updating your vaccination record, the rotavirus vaccine may also be on the list. You can check the baby rotavirus vaccine price.

PhilHealth, HMO and discounts

PhilHealth: tetanus treatment

PhilHealth’s published ₱5,850 Animal Bite Treatment package includes tetanus toxoid and anti-tetanus serum alongside rabies-related treatment, wound care and other covered components.

The benefit applies to qualifying animal-bite treatment at an accredited provider. It is not an allowance for any tetanus injection. A nail injury does not qualify for this package simply because tetanus protection is needed.

Ask the clinic:

  • Is it accredited specifically for the Animal Bite Treatment package?
  • Does your exposure qualify?
  • What amount will you still pay?

See our anti-rabies vaccine price guide for the other expenses involved in bite treatment.

HMO: check the vaccine and the service separately

An HMO may cover the consultation or immunization service while excluding the vaccine itself.

For example, MediCard’s published Standard plan page includes routine immunization services but excludes vaccine cost under preventive care. Confirm your own contract, accredited clinic, authorization requirements and coverage for vaccination after an injury.

Maxicare’s ₱5,999 PRIMA Animal Bite Care is a separate prepaid product. It includes one anti-tetanus shot, four anti-rabies shots, wound treatment and two animal-bite consultations. Rabies immunoglobulin is an additional expense at member rates.

A bite-treatment package and a standalone tetanus shot cover different services, so compare their inclusions before comparing prices.

Senior citizen and PWD benefits

Under RA 9994 and RA 10754 and their implementing rules, eligible seniors and PWDs have 20% discounts and VAT exemption where applicable on qualifying medicines and medical services. PWD benefits can cover qualifying clinic services as well as pharmacy purchases.

Present the required ID and prescription before billing. Ask for an itemized calculation showing which charges qualify.

If a promotion applies, ask which gives the better price: the promotion or the statutory benefit. Discounts are not automatically stacked, and the VAT treatment must be included in the computation where applicable.

Families usually plan vaccines together as one schedule. If the flu vaccine is also due, you can check the flu shot price.

Frequently asked questions

Kailangan ba ng anti-tetanus kapag nakagat ng aso o nakalmot ng pusa?

Not automatically. The clinic assesses the wound and your previous tetanus vaccination. Rabies prevention is assessed separately; a tetanus shot does not protect against rabies.

I stepped on a rusty nail. How quickly should I get care?

Have the wound assessed promptly. Tetanus comes from bacterial spores contaminating a wound, not from rust itself. Bring any vaccination record and explain when the injury happened. Do not wait for symptoms.

Can I buy tetanus toxoid elsewhere and pay only for the injection?

Ask the receiving clinic before buying. Confirm whether it accepts outside vaccines and what prescription, transport and storage arrangements it requires.

Hi-Precision’s ₱150 administration fee applies to vaccines purchased through its own online store. It does not establish a fee or acceptance policy for products bought elsewhere.

I need a tetanus record for school or work. What should I bring?

Bring the actual requirement, a valid ID and your previous vaccination card. Check whether it specifies TT, Td or Tdap, and ask whether the clinic can issue the required record.

Pallad lists a vaccination certificate as free. Confirm that the document meets your school’s or employer’s requirements.

Before you go

Bring your vaccination record, doctor’s request if required, and any HMO or senior/PWD identification.

For a routine vaccination, check public-program eligibility and clinic availability before booking. For an injury, seek prompt assessment while the facility checks your payment or benefit options.

Ask these three questions:

  1. Which product is included—TT, Td, Tdap or an antitoxin?
  2. What is the total today, including consultation, injection and wound care?
  3. What will any follow-up visits or later doses cost?
