Teeth Cleaning Price in the Philippines: Clinic Fees and Free Options

Dentist performing routine teeth cleaning on a patient, with text about clinic fees and free options in the Philippines.

Routine teeth cleaning prices in the Philippines range from ₱500 to ₱2,500 in the private clinic. These are advertised procedure fees, so consultation and other charges may increase your total. Free cleaning is available through some local government programs and covered PhilHealth visits at participating public facilities.

Teeth cleaning is also called oral prophylaxis. When comparing quotations, check whether the price covers routine cleaning, heavier deposits or treatment for gum disease. These services can have different fees and billing units.

The listings above do not clearly state when their prices took effect. We checked available online information on October 6, 2026; an undated listing should not be treated as a newly issued 2026 rate. The Ilocos Sur fee was available through indexed content from its official website.

A lower procedure fee does not necessarily mean a lower final bill. Ask whether the quotation includes the examination, polishing and any clinic fee. These examples also do not establish average prices for Manila, Cebu or other cities.

What can increase your teeth cleaning bill?

Heavier tartar buildup or staining

Some clinics charge according to the amount of cleaning required. Dr. James Dental Clinic lists starting oral-prophylaxis fees of ₱900 for mild cases, ₱1,900 for moderate cases and ₱5,000 for extra-severe cases.

Smiles R’ Us lists ₱2,500 for adult cleaning with heavy stains, compared with ₱1,000 for regular adult prophylaxis. Ask how the dentist classified your case and what the higher fee includes. A clinic’s “heavy cleaning” label does not automatically mean scaling and root planing for gum disease.

Consultation, fluoride and other charges

Possible additional chargePublished example
Consultation₱500 at Grin and Proper; ₱1,000 at Ora Dental
Asepsis or infection-control fee₱500 at Smiles R’ Us
Fluoride treatment₱1,500 at Ora Dental
Dental X-ray, if recommended₱500 periapical; ₱1,000 panoramic at Dr. James

Example: Grin and Proper lists cleaning at ₱1,500 and consultation at ₱500. If both charges apply, the subtotal is ₱2,000. This is a calculation using its separate fees, not an advertised package.

Check whether consultation is included or waived when treatment proceeds. Ask why any X-ray or additional procedure is recommended and what it costs before agreeing.

If cleaning requires another session, confirm whether the original quotation covers completion or whether each appointment has a separate fee.

Airflow cleaning

Ora Dental lists Air Flow prophylaxis at ₱4,000. Before comparing it with a basic cleaning quote, ask whether it replaces the standard cleaning charge or is an additional service, and what the dentist recommends for your needs.

Deep cleaning teeth cost

Scaling and root planing is treatment for gum disease below the gumline. It differs from routine prophylaxis and may require local anesthesia and more than one appointment, according to the American Dental Association.

ProviderPublished scaling and root planing fee
Smiles R’ Us, Las Piñas₱3,500 per quadrant
DevelopDent, Makati₱5,000 per quadrant or ₱10,000 per arch

A quadrant is one quarter of the mouth. An arch refers to the upper or lower teeth.

At those per-quadrant rates, treating all four quadrants would calculate to ₱14,000 or ₱20,000 before additional charges. These are illustrations, not advertised full-mouth packages or a suggestion that everyone needs all four areas treated. DevelopDent states that local anesthesia is a separate charge.

If a clinic uses terms such as “deep scaling” or “deep cleaning,” ask whether the quotation includes root planing and which areas it covers. A per-session scaling fee and a per-quadrant periodontal treatment fee are not directly comparable.

Request a written plan identifying the areas requiring treatment, number of appointments, anesthesia and follow-up fees. Your dentist should explain the examination findings that support the recommendation.

Is teeth cleaning covered by PhilHealth?

Yes. PhilHealth’s Preventive Oral Health Services package under Circular 2024-0034 provides two preventive visits per year, at least four months apart, comprising an oral examination, cleaning and fluoride varnish.

Eligible sealant or root-surface protection procedures, including qualifying Class V restorations, are limited to two teeth per year. This is not blanket coverage for all fillings.

How much do you pay?

PhilHealth’s official patient guidance distinguishes public and private providers:

  • Participating public dental facilities: no copayment for covered services.
  • Participating private dental facilities: a maximum ₱1,500 copayment for the examination, cleaning and fluoride bundle. The actual charge may be lower.

Separate limits apply to covered sealant/Class V services. Ask the provider to itemize these and identify any treatment outside the package.

What does PhilHealth pay the dentist?

Advisory 2025-0075, signed December 18, 2025, lists these provider reimbursements:

Services delivered during a covered visitPhilHealth reimbursement
Examination, cleaning and fluoride varnish₱300
Those services plus eligible sealant/root-surface protection for one tooth₱500
Those services plus eligible sealant/root-surface protection for two teeth₱700

The package has a ₱1,000 annual benefit limit, with the two-tooth limit applying across the year. The table does not mean two ₱700 claims are automatically payable annually.

These are payments to the provider. They are not cash benefits or an automatic ₱300 discount at any dental clinic.

Where can you use the benefit?

Start with your registered PhilHealth YAKAP clinic, formerly Konsulta, and ask about dental services or its referral arrangement.

Use the PhilHealth accredited-facility directory and select Oral Health Benefit Package Providers. Being accredited for another PhilHealth service does not establish participation in this dental package.

Before travelling, confirm appointment availability, referral requirements and your expected payment.

If your dentist also recommends dental veneers, you can check the cost of veneers before your next appointment.

Where to find free or low-cost teeth cleaning

The Manolo Fortich Municipal Health Office’s online citizen’s charter, in Bukidnon, lists oral prophylaxis as free. Its dental service is listed for patients aged four and above.

Confirm the schedule and any local requirements before visiting. This is one LGU’s published service, not a nationwide entitlement to free cleaning at every health office.

You can also ask your city or municipal health office, rural health unit or government hospital dental department:

  • Is routine teeth cleaning available?
  • Do I need an appointment, referral or proof of residency?
  • Is it free through an LGU program or PhilHealth, or is there a fee?
  • Are consultation and supplies charged separately?

A nearby public clinic may be more practical than travelling to a distant hospital for a lower published fee.

HMO coverage and senior citizen or PWD discounts

Check your exact HMO plan

Dental benefits vary by product, employer agreement and accredited network. For example, My MediCard’s published terms include one oral prophylaxis for mild cases, while excluding moderate and heavy cases. The page shows a May 15, 2022 update date and says its information remains valid until updated; confirm your current agreement.

This limitation should not be applied to every MediCard product or every HMO. Ask how many cleanings remain, whether authorization is required and what you pay if the dentist finds that your case is outside the benefit.

Senior citizen and PWD benefits

Eligible seniors and PWDs are entitled to a 20% discount and VAT exemption where applicable on qualifying dental services under the relevant laws and implementing rules.

RA 9994 also provides free dental services for senior citizens in government facilities, subject to the applicable guidelines. The implementing rules of RA 10754 explain PWD privileges.

Present the required identification before billing. Ask for an itemized calculation, including how an advertised promotion affects the applicable benefit; discounts are not automatically combined.

What happens during teeth cleaning?

A routine visit involves removing plaque and tartar with dental instruments and polishing the teeth. Most cleanings take 30–60 minutes, although more involved treatment can take longer, according to Cleveland Clinic.

Allow extra time for registration, examination and waiting. Tell the dentist about sensitive teeth, medicines, medical conditions and any anxiety before starting.

Temporary sensitivity or gum soreness can occur afterward. If fluoride is applied, follow the clinic’s product-specific instructions about eating and drinking.

Frequently asked questions

Magkano magpalinis ng ngipin?

The private-clinic listings in this guide show routine cleaning fees of ₱500–₱2,500 before possible extras. Government and LGU options can cost less or be free for eligible patients. Ask for the total after consultation and other applicable fees.

Gaano kadalas dapat magpalinis ng ngipin?

Six months is a common interval, but your dentist should recommend a schedule based on your oral health. Some people need more frequent care.

PhilHealth’s four-month minimum is a benefit-spacing rule, not advice that everyone should have cleaning every four months.

Kasama ba ang pasta sa teeth cleaning?

Usually, cleaning and fillings are separate services. Ask which tooth needs treatment, how many surfaces are involved and what the filling will cost.

PhilHealth’s qualifying Class V/root-surface restoration benefit is limited; it does not cover every cavity filling. Read our tooth filling price guide for the main pricing factors.

How much is teeth cleaning for children?

Smiles R’ Us publishes ₱900 for a child’s cleaning and ₱1,500 for cleaning with fluoride. These are one clinic’s fees. Ask whether the examination and any pediatric dentist’s charge are included.

For free-care options, check your child’s PhilHealth registration and the requirements of nearby LGU dental programs.

Is cleaning included with braces?

Check your orthodontic agreement. Some packages include cleaning or a discount; others charge separately. Ask how many sessions are included and whether heavier buildup changes the fee.

Before braces are fitted, your dentist should assess your teeth and gums and explain any cleaning or treatment needed.

Does cleaning whiten your teeth?

Cleaning can remove some surface stains, but it is different from teeth bleaching. Ask for a separate whitening assessment and quotation if you want a lighter tooth shade.

Cleaning removes surface stains, while whitening changes the actual shade of the enamel. If you want the stronger effect, you can check the teeth whitening cost.

If you are also planning dental retainers, it helps to compare the full treatment cost early. You can check the retainer price in the Philippines.

How to book affordable teeth cleaning

  1. Check your benefits. Ask your YAKAP clinic about dental access or your HMO about unused cleaning coverage.
  2. Confirm participation and availability. Check the facility’s dental-package status, appointment process and referral requirements.
  3. Request the complete price. Ask about consultation, polishing, fluoride and clinic fees.
  4. Clarify the procedure. If gum treatment is recommended, ask for its purpose, billing unit and total cost.
  5. Agree to extras before treatment begins. Request an explanation and quotation for services beyond the original booking.
  6. Arrange follow-up with your dentist. Covered PhilHealth visits must meet the minimum interval and annual limits. Starting late in the year does not guarantee two covered appointments before year-end.

You can send this message when booking:

“How much is routine teeth cleaning, including consultation and clinic fees? Do you accept my HMO or provide the PhilHealth dental package? If I need heavier cleaning or gum treatment, please explain the procedure and total price before proceeding.”

How CareCostPH checked these prices

We reviewed publicly available clinic price lists, a clinic booking page, official hospital information, an LGU citizen’s charter, PhilHealth documents and published HMO terms on October 6, 2026. We did not call or visit the facilities.

Provider links identify the price sources. Undated listings were not treated as newly issued rates, and the comparison is not a representative survey of all Philippine dental clinics. Clinical explanations were checked against ADA and Cleveland Clinic guidance.

Prices, available appointments and benefit arrangements can change. Confirm the total with the facility; your dentist should determine the appropriate cleaning or treatment.
