CT Scan Price in the Philippines 2026: Plain, Contrast and Hospital Costs

For many routine plain CT scans of one body region, current published outpatient and hospital rates reviewed by CareCostPH fall around ₱3,100–₱8,700. A CT scan with contrast usually costs more, while larger or specialized examinations such as whole-abdomen CT, combined chest-and-abdomen studies, and CT angiography can cost ₱10,000 to more than ₱30,000.
The two details that affect the CT Scan price most are:
1. Which body part or region is being scanned
2. Whether the study is plain or uses contrast
That is why asking only “Magkano ang CT scan?” rarely gives you an accurate quotation.
CT Scan Price Philippines 2026
| CT Scan | Plain / Non-Contrast | With Contrast | Important Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Head/brain / cranial | ₱3,100–₱5,480 | ₱5,585–₱8,059 | Based on ordinary outpatient/provider rates reviewed |
| Chest | ₱4,200–₱8,665 | ₱6,320–₱10,315 | HRCT may be priced separately |
| Cervical/lumbar spine | ₱4,100–₱7,020 | about ₱8,200–₱11,300 | Usually priced per spinal region |
| Whole abdomen | ₱7,300–₱16,486 | about ₱10,075–₱17,388 | Special triphasic protocols can cost more |
| CT stonogram | ₱5,900–₱9,530 | Usually performed as its own protocol | Commonly used for urinary-stone evaluation |
| Chest + whole abdomen | about ₱14,950–₱23,170 | about ₱20,000–₱34,308 | Published examples have different inclusions |
| CT angiography | — | about ₱12,000–₱26,735+ | Price depends heavily on vessel/body area |
| Coronary calcium score | ₱4,902–₱7,700 in current examples | No routine IV contrast | Specialized cardiac screening CT |
These are observed published prices among facilities reviewed by CareCost PH, not an official national average.
Some hospital prices include a professional fee. Others list the radiology procedure separately from professional fees, medicines, contrast, or supplies. Always compare what is actually included.
If your doctor recommends an EEG test as a follow-up, you can check the cost of an EEG to include it in your budget.
Read Your Exact CT Request Before Comparing Prices
Your doctor’s request may say:
- CT brain / cranial, plain
- CT brain with contrast
- CT chest
- High-resolution chest CT or HRCT
- CT whole abdomen
- CT upper or lower abdomen
- CT chest + whole abdomen
- CT cervical spine
- CT lumbar spine
- CT stonogram
- CT urogram
- CT angiography or CTA
- Coronary CT angiography
- Coronary calcium scoring
- CT colonography or virtual colonoscopy
These are not interchangeable examinations.
A plain head CT can cost only a few thousand pesos, while a combined contrast-enhanced chest-and-abdomen study or coronary CTA can exceed ₱20,000–₱30,000 at some hospitals. Show the facility your actual doctor’s request when asking for a price.
CT Scan Prices at Philippine Hospitals
The examples below come from current or recently published hospital price schedules.
| Facility | Selected Published CT Prices |
|---|---|
| Philippine General Hospital (PGH) | Head plain outpatient: ₱3,100; head contrast: ₱5,585; chest plain: ₱4,200; chest contrast: ₱6,320; whole abdomen plain: ₱7,900 |
| Bicol Medical Center | Cranial: ₱3,900 + ₱1,365 PF; chest: ₱4,800 + ₱1,680 PF; chest contrast: ₱6,900 + ₱3,415 PF |
| Ilocos Sur Medical Center | Cranial: ₱4,700; cranial contrast: ₱6,300; chest: ₱5,100; chest contrast: ₱8,000–₱9,100 |
| BRGHGMC | Brain: ₱5,000; chest: ₱5,500; spine: ₱5,500; whole abdomen: ₱11,000 |
| Chong Hua Hospital | Brain plain: ₱5,480; brain contrast: ₱8,059; chest plain: ₱8,665; whole abdomen plain: ₱16,486; whole abdomen contrast: ₱17,388 |
The numbers above also show why there is no reliable one-price answer for “CT scan Philippines.”
Different hospitals price services differently, and some separate professional fees while others publish a procedure-only amount.
Each type of scan has its own pricing, and a thyroid ultrasound is often part of the same diagnostic process. You can check the thyroid ultrasound price in the Philippines.
Why PGH Can Show an Extremely Low CT Price
You may see a PGH cranial CT price of ₱1,500 online. That figure is real—but it is PGH’s service rate, not its normal outpatient-pay price. For a plain brain/head/cranial CT, PGH currently lists:
| Patient Classification | Price |
|---|---|
| Service | ₱1,500 |
| Outpatient-pay | ₱3,100 |
| Ward / semi-private | ₱3,720 |
| Private | ₱3,875 |
| Suite / deluxe | ₱4,185 |
This distinction matters. Using ₱1,500 as the general starting price for “government CT scans” would make the typical cost look artificially low.
When contacting PGH or another government hospital, ask which patient classification or billing category applies to you.
Head or Brain CT Scan Price
A plain head CT—also called a cranial CT—is among the most common CT examinations. Current published examples include:
- ₱3,100 — PGH outpatient-pay
- ₱4,700 — Ilocos Sur Medical Center
- ₱5,000 — BRGHGMC
- ₱5,265 combined listed procedure + professional fee — Bicol Medical Center
- ₱5,480 — Chong Hua Hospital
So a practical published range for an ordinary outpatient-type plain head CT among these facilities is about: ₱3,100–₱5,480
Head CT With Contrast
Current examples include:
- ₱5,585 — PGH outpatient-pay
- ₱6,300 — Ilocos Sur, 50 mL contrast
- ₱6,940 combined listed charges — Bicol Medical Center
- ₱8,059 — Chong Hua Hospital
This gives an observed range of roughly: ₱5,585–₱8,059. The contrast difference is not identical from hospital to hospital.
Chest CT Scan Price
Current plain chest CT rates include:
- ₱4,200 — PGH outpatient-pay
- ₱5,100 — Ilocos Sur Medical Center
- ₱5,500 — BRGHGMC
- ₱6,480 combined listed charges — Bicol Medical Center
- ₱8,665 — Chong Hua Hospital
A plain chest CT therefore currently appears to be around ₱4,200–₱8,665 among these published examples.
Chest CT With Contrast
Current examples include:
PGH outpatient-pay: ₱6,320
Ilocos Sur:
50 mL contrast — ₱8,000
100 mL contrast — ₱9,100
Chong Hua Hospital: ₱9,411
Bicol Medical Center:
Procedure — ₱6,900
Professional fee — ₱3,415
Combined listed charges — ₱10,315
The observed published range among these comparable examples is therefore approximately: ₱6,320–₱10,315.
What About HRCT of the Chest?
A high-resolution CT or HRCT is a specific chest CT technique and may have its own price. For example:
- PGH HRCT chest outpatient-pay: ₱3,400
- Ilocos Sur HRCT: ₱7,300
- Bicol Medical Center HRCT: ₱4,800 + ₱1,680 professional fee
- BRGHGMC HRCT: ₱5,500
Do not assume a quotation for “CT chest” automatically applies to an HRCT request.
Whole-Abdomen CT Price
Whole-abdomen CT has a much wider price spread than a basic head CT. Published examples include:
- ₱7,900 — PGH outpatient-pay
- ₱9,450 — Bicol Medical Center listed procedure rate
- ₱11,000 — BRGHGMC
- ₱16,486 — Chong Hua Hospital
This is a good example of why CareCost PH does not publish one supposed “Philippine average.”
A whole-abdomen CT can differ by many thousands of pesos even among legitimate facilities.
Whole-Abdomen CT With Contrast
PGH currently lists a whole-abdomen single-phase contrast CT at ₱10,075 for outpatient-pay patients. Chong Hua lists whole-abdomen CT with contrast at ₱17,388. Other hospitals may separately price:
- IV contrast
- Oral contrast
- Rectal contrast
- Double contrast
- Triple contrast
- Liver protocols
- Pancreatic protocols
At Bicol Medical Center, for example, specialized whole-abdomen liver, pancreatic and triphasic protocols are listed separately from an ordinary whole-abdomen study.
If your doctor’s request mentions triphasic, liver protocol, or pancreatic protocol, do not compare that quotation with a basic whole-abdomen CT.
Combined Chest + Whole-Abdomen CT
This deserves separate attention because combining two large regions changes the price significantly. Bicol Medical Center currently lists:
Chest + whole abdomen, plain:
Procedure ₱13,950 + PF ₱1,000
Combined listed charges: ₱14,950
Chest + whole abdomen with contrast:
Procedure ₱18,200 + PF ₱1,800
Combined listed charges: ₱20,000
Chong Hua currently lists:
- Chest + whole abdomen plain: ₱23,170
- Chest + whole abdomen with contrast: ₱34,308
Chong Hua notes that its prices cover procedure costs only, with required medicines and supplies excluded. That means these numbers should not be treated as perfectly identical packages.
But they show clearly why a combined chest-and-abdomen study cannot be compared with a ₱4,000–₱5,000 single-region CT.
Cervical and Lumbar Spine CT Price
For plain single-region spine CT, current examples include:
Cervical Spine
PGH outpatient-pay: ₱4,100
Ilocos Sur: ₱5,300
BRGHGMC: ₱5,500
Bicol Medical Center: ₱5,200 + ₱1,820 PF = ₱7,020
Lumbar Spine
PGH outpatient-pay: ₱4,100
BRGHGMC: ₱5,500
Ilocos Sur: ₱5,700
Bicol Medical Center: ₱5,000 + ₱1,750 PF = ₱6,750
Contrast-enhanced spine studies can cost more. Ilocos Sur, for example, lists lumbar spine CT with contrast at ₱8,200 with 50 mL contrast and ₱9,400 with 100 mL contrast.
CT Stonogram Price
A CT stonogram is commonly used to evaluate suspected stones in the urinary tract. Current published outpatient/provider examples include:
- ₱5,900 — PGH outpatient-pay
- ₱6,345 combined listed charges — Bicol Medical Center
- ₱7,500 — BRGHGMC
- ₱9,530 — Chong Hua Hospital
That places the observed current examples around ₱5,900–₱9,530 for ordinary published rates eviewed here.
CT Angiography Price
CT angiography (CTA) is more specialized than a routine CT because it is designed to show blood vessels and normally uses contrast. The location being examined makes a major difference.
Bicol Medical Center Examples
- Head CTA: ₱10,000 + ₱2,000 PF = ₱12,000
- Pulmonary CTA: ₱14,000 + ₱5,900 PF = ₱19,900
- Coronary CTA: ₱15,000 + ₱6,250 PF = ₱21,250
Chong Hua Examples
- Pulmonary embolism CTA: ₱12,549
- Aortogram CTA: ₱24,409
- Coronary CTA: ₱26,735
So a more realistic current planning range for major CTA examples is roughly ₱12,000–₱26,735+ depending on the vessel and hospital. A CTA should not be compared with a normal plain head or chest CT.
Coronary Calcium Score Price
A coronary calcium score is another specialized CT examination, but it is different from coronary CT angiography. Current examples include:
- Chong Hua Hospital: ₱4,902 procedure price
- Bicol Medical Center:
- ₱5,700 procedure + ₱2,000 PF
- ₱7,700 combined listed charges
A coronary calcium score generally does not use the same IV contrast protocol as coronary CTA. Make sure you know which cardiac CT your doctor actually requested.
What’s Included in the CT Scan Price?
There is no safe rule that says every CT quotation automatically includes everything. Before comparing two hospitals, check whether the quoted price includes:
- CT procedure
- Radiologist interpretation
- Professional or reading fee
- Iodinated contrast material
- IV insertion and supplies
- Medicines
- Digital images
- Film or CD
- Written radiology report
- Specialized reconstruction
- Additional body regions
The price lists themselves show why this matters. Bicol Medical Center separates many CT procedures into procedure rate + professional fee, while Chong Hua specifically says its current listed CT prices cover procedure costs only and that medicines and supplies are not included. The lowest displayed number is therefore not always the lowest final bill.
Doctors sometimes order more than one scan during a workup. If a 2D echo is also requested, you can check the 2D echo cost.
How Much More Does CT Contrast Cost?
There is no single contrast add-on price that applies to every CT scan. For example:
| Procedure | Plain | With Contrast |
|---|---|---|
| PGH head, outpatient-pay | ₱3,100 | ₱5,585 |
| Ilocos Sur head | ₱4,700 | ₱6,300 |
| Chong Hua brain | ₱5,480 | ₱8,059 |
| PGH chest, outpatient-pay | ₱4,200 | ₱6,320 |
| Ilocos Sur chest | ₱5,100 | ₱8,000–₱9,100 |
| Chong Hua chest | ₱8,665 | ₱9,411 |
The difference varies because hospitals may use different contrast quantities and billing methods. Ilocos Sur’s price schedule, for example, separately identifies some studies using 50 mL and 100 mL of contrast. Do not simply add ₱2,000 or ₱3,000 to every plain CT price.
Do You Need a Creatinine Test Before CT With Contrast?
Not every CT scan requires kidney-function testing. For some contrast-enhanced CT examinations, however, the imaging facility may require or review a recent creatinine or eGFR result, particularly when kidney disease or other risk factors are present.
The facility performing the scan should tell you whether a kidney-function test is required. Do not arrange extra laboratory tests solely because you read that another patient needed one.
Do You Need a Doctor’s Request?
For a scheduled diagnostic CT scan, you should normally expect the facility to ask for a physician’s request or imaging order. The request tells the radiology team:
- Body region
- Plain vs contrast
- Required protocol
- Reason for the examination
This is also why you should send or show the doctor’s actual request when asking for a price. “CT scan of my stomach” may not be enough information to determine whether the doctor wants:
- Upper abdomen
- Lower abdomen
- Whole abdomen
- Abdomen and pelvis
- Stonogram
- Urogram
- Triphasic liver CT
- Another specialized study
How Should You Prepare for a CT Scan?
Preparation depends on the test. For many plain CT examinations, little special preparation may be required.
For some contrast-enhanced abdominal or body CT studies, the facility may instruct you not to eat or drink for several hours beforehand.
Before the appointment, tell the healthcare team about relevant medical conditions, medicines, previous reactions to contrast material, kidney disease, and any possibility of pregnancy.
Follow the instructions from the facility performing your exact CT, rather than using preparation instructions from another type of scan.
CT Scan During Pregnancy
CT uses X-ray radiation. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell the physician and CT technologist before the scan. This does not mean a medically necessary CT should automatically be avoided.
The healthcare team considers why the scan is needed, which body area is being examined, and whether another imaging method such as ultrasound or MRI could provide the required information.
Does PhilHealth Cover CT Scan?
There is no single universal PhilHealth outpatient CT-scan benefit amount that applies to every routine walk-in CT. PhilHealth currently explains that inpatient benefits are paid to accredited facilities through All Case Rates, with the applicable case-rate amount deducted from the member’s total hospital bill.
A CT scan may therefore be part of the diagnostic costs associated with:
- Hospital admission
- Particular medical condition
- Procedure
- Disease-specific package
- Other eligible benefit
That is different from saying: “PhilHealth pays ₱X for every outpatient CT scan.” Before relying on PhilHealth, ask the hospital billing office:
- Is this CT part of my current PhilHealth case or package?
- Is the CT being billed separately?
- What PhilHealth deduction applies?
- What amount will I personally pay?
PhilHealth benefit, hospital CT price, and final patient bill are three different things.
Can an HMO Cover CT Scan?
An HMO may cover a medically requested CT scan depending on:
- Your plan
- Medical necessity
- Remaining benefit limit
- Hospital or diagnostic-center accreditation
- Pre-authorization requirements
- Whether contrast is included
- Professional-fee coverage
Before booking, ask:
- Is this exact CT covered?
- Is this facility accredited?
- Do I need an LOA or prior authorization?
- Does the approval include contrast?
- Is the professional fee included?
- Is there a co-payment?
- What is my remaining coverage limit?
Get any required authorization before the scan.
Senior Citizen Discount for CT Scan
The Expanded Senior Citizens Act specifically covers CT scans. Qualified senior citizens are entitled to a 20% discount and VAT exemption, where applicable, on medically necessary diagnostic services requested by a physician in private healthcare facilities.
The law specifically includes computerized tomography scans among diagnostic services. It also provides qualified senior citizens with free diagnostic services, including CT scans, in government facilities, subject to applicable implementing guidelines.
Bring valid proof of senior-citizen eligibility and ask the facility to calculate the benefit correctly before payment.
PWD Discount for CT Scan
Qualified persons with disability are entitled to at least a 20% discount and VAT exemption, where applicable, on eligible medical and diagnostic services. DOH implementation guidance specifically includes diagnostic services involving:
- Special reagents
- Dyes
- Contrast media
- Radioactive isotopes
This is particularly relevant to contrast-enhanced CT examinations. PWD rules for government-facility billing are not identical to the senior-citizen provision, so do not assume every government CT automatically becomes completely free.
Ask the billing department how the benefit applies to your actual bill.
CT Scan vs MRI vs X-Ray
These imaging tests serve different purposes.
X-ray uses x-rays to produce relatively simple images and is commonly used for bones, chest imaging, and many basic examinations.
CT scan also uses x-rays but combines many images using computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional views. It is fast and widely used for trauma, acute bleeding, chest problems, abdominal conditions, and many emergency situations.
MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves rather than ionizing radiation and can provide excellent soft-tissue detail.
The cheapest test is not automatically the correct test. If your doctor requests CT, do not replace it with MRI or X-ray based only on price without discussing the change with the healthcare professional managing your care.
Questions to Ask Before Booking
Before choosing the facility, show them your doctor’s request and ask:
- What is the price for this exact CT scan?
- Is it plain or with contrast?
- Is the professional/reader’s fee included?
- Is contrast included?
- Are IV supplies and medicines included?
- Do I need a creatinine or eGFR test?
- Do I need to fast?
- Do I need an appointment?
- Are digital images included?
- Is the official radiology report included?
- Can I use PhilHealth?
- Does my HMO require an LOA?
- Does my senior citizen or PWD benefit apply?
- When will the official report be released?
This gives you a much better comparison than asking only: “Magkano ang CT scan?”
Frequently Asked Questions
Magkano ang CT scan sa Pilipinas?
For many routine plain CT scans of one body region, current ordinary outpatient/provider rates reviewed by CareCost PH are approximately ₱3,100–₱8,700.
The exact amount depends on the body part and hospital. Contrast, larger body regions, combined scans, and angiography can cost considerably more.
How Much Is a Brain CT Scan?
Current plain head/brain examples include:
- ₱3,100 — PGH outpatient-pay
- ₱4,700 — Ilocos Sur Medical Center
- ₱5,000 — BRGHGMC
- ₱5,265 — Bicol Medical Center combined listed procedure + PF
- ₱5,480 — Chong Hua Hospital
How Much Is CT With Contrast?
There is no one nationwide contrast price. For common head studies, current published examples range from approximately ₱5,585 to ₱8,059. For chest CT with contrast, examples reviewed range from approximately ₱6,320 to ₱10,315.
Larger abdominal studies can be considerably more expensive.
How Much Is a Whole-Abdomen CT?
Current plain examples include:
₱7,900 at PGH outpatient-pay,
₱11,000 at BRGHGMC, and
₱16,486 at Chong Hua Hospital.
Contrast-enhanced whole-abdomen studies can exceed ₱17,000, with special protocols potentially costing more.
How Much Is a CT Stonogram?
Current published examples reviewed by CareCost PH range from approximately ₱5,900–₱9,530 for ordinary outpatient/provider pricing.
How Much Is CT Angiography?
The body area makes a major difference. Current published examples range from approximately ₱12,000 for a head CTA including Bicol Medical Center’s listed PF to ₱26,735 for coronary CTA at Chong Hua.
Is CT Cheaper at a Government Hospital?
Government facilities often have lower published rates, but that is not guaranteed for every procedure. Government hospitals may also have several patient classifications, as PGH’s rate table demonstrates.
Compare the exact procedure and what is included instead of comparing only “public” versus “private.”
Can PhilHealth Make My CT Scan Free?
Not automatically. PhilHealth does not publish one universal outpatient CT benefit that applies to every stand-alone CT examination. Coverage depends on the patient’s circumstances, admission, diagnosis, case rate, or benefit package.
Does an HMO Cover CT Scan?
It may. Coverage depends on your specific plan, the provider network, authorization requirements, and whether items such as contrast and professional fees are included.
Is a Doctor’s Request Needed?
For scheduled diagnostic CT imaging, expect to need a physician’s request or imaging order. Requirements can vary by facility, so confirm before visiting.
How CareCost PH Checked These Prices
CareCost PH reviewed publicly available pricing from Philippine government hospitals, DOH medical centers, private hospitals, and official healthcare benefit information.
Priority was given to direct provider price schedules rather than unsourced third-party estimates.
Important sources used for this guide include:
- Philippine General Hospital — current public rates by patient classification
- Bicol Medical Center — CT schedule as of July 2026
- Ilocos Sur Medical Center — CT pricing updated December 1, 2025
- Bicol Region General Hospital and Geriatric Medical Center
- Chong Hua Hospital — CT prices effective August 26, 2026
- PhilHealth
- Republic Act No. 9994
- RA 10754 / DOH PWD implementing guidance
When a hospital publishes a procedure charge separately from a professional fee, CareCost PH identifies that distinction rather than pretending the procedure charge is necessarily the final bill.
Special subsidized patient classifications are also kept separate from ordinary outpatient prices when they would otherwise distort the comparison.
Prices checked: September 24, 2026.
Read our How We Research Prices page for more information about the CareCost PH price-research methodology.
What You May Actually Pay
For a routine plain CT of one body region, a practical starting budget based on the current ordinary outpatient/provider rates reviewed is about ₱3,100–₱8,700 But that figure does not cover every CT.
Examples of more expensive studies include:
- Whole-abdomen CT
- Contrast-enhanced studies
- Combined chest + abdomen CT
- CT angiography
- Coronary CTA
- Special liver/pancreatic protocols
- Multiple body regions
Before choosing a hospital, compare: exact CT protocol + body region + plain/contrast + professional fee + contrast + supplies + patient classification + PhilHealth/HMO + senior/PWD benefits
The best question to ask the facility is: “Here is my doctor’s CT request. What is the expected total price, including all professional fees, contrast, and required supplies?”
That gives you a much more reliable figure than simply comparing advertised CT rates.
Medical note: Prices are for general information and can change. Confirm the current price and what it includes directly with the facility. Whether a CT scan or contrast-enhanced CT is appropriate for you should be determined by a qualified healthcare professional.
