Ultrasound Price Philippines: Current Rates for Abdomen, TVS, Pregnancy & More

Ultrasound Price Philippines

An ultrasound in the Philippines can cost from around ₱500–₱1,500 for many basic government-hospital studies to around ₱1,400–₱5,000 or more at private hospitals and diagnostic centers, depending on the exact scan.

The important question is not simply: “Magkano ang ultrasound?” It is:

“What exact ultrasound is written on my doctor’s request?”

A whole abdomen ultrasound, transvaginal ultrasound, pregnancy ultrasound, thyroid scan, breast ultrasound and Doppler study are different examinations with different prices and preparation requirements.

Find Your Ultrasound on the Request First

Here is a practical price guide based on currently published Philippine hospital and diagnostic-center rates reviewed by CareCost PH.

Ultrasound TypeCurrent Published ExamplesPractical Price Context
Whole abdomen₱1,060–₱5,000One of the widest price spreads
Upper abdomen₱840–₱2,228Usually liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen
Pelvic₱600–₱2,500Price differs for pregnant/non-pregnant studies
Transvaginal / TVS₱750–₱3,000+Public and private examples vary substantially
Pregnancy / OB pelvic₱500–₱2,500+Depends on trimester and type
Breast₱780–₱3,000+Bilateral/axilla coverage can affect price
Thyroid / neck₱890–₱2,000+Thyroid alone may differ from full neck scan
KUB₱775–₱1,638+Kidneys, ureters and bladder
Scrotal/testicular₱780–₱1,670+Private rates can be higher
3D / 4D pregnancy ultrasoundaround ₱1,600–₱4,300 in published examplesNot the same as a routine OB scan
Vascular Dopplerseveral thousand pesos; some studies ₱5,000+Vessel and number of limbs matter greatly

These are observed published/provider prices, not an official Philippine average.

Specialized vascular Doppler, guided biopsy and interventional ultrasound procedures should not be mixed with ordinary diagnostic ultrasound when creating a general price range.

Each type of scan has its own pricing, and an EEG test is often part of the same diagnostic process. You can check the EEG test cost.

Whole Abdomen Ultrasound Price

Whole-abdomen ultrasound is one of the most searched ultrasound services in the Philippines. Current examples include:

  • ₱1,060 — Ilocos Sur Medical Center
  • ₱1,300 — Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital
  • ₱2,028 — Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center / government schedule example
  • ₱2,400 — current Hi-Precision listing through NowExpress
  • ₱2,650 — Bicol Medical Center
  • ₱3,520 — Chong Hua Hospital
  • ₱3,570 — current Healthway QualiMed promotional booking example
  • ₱5,000 — current Fullerton Health BGC booking example

Chong Hua’s published price is especially useful for freshness because it is effective August 26, 2026. Its current whole-abdomen procedure price is ₱3,520. Chong Hua also states that its listed rates cover procedure costs only, with medicines and supplies excluded.

Private diagnostic center

Current Hati booking listings show a large spread even for the same general examination.

  • Access Laboratory — ₱1,700 promotional price
  • Exact Check — ₱1,800
  • EC Care Cebu — ₱1,800
  • Ashrey — ₱2,495
  • Healthway QualiMed — ₱3,570
  • Fullerton Health BGC — ₱5,000

This is a good example of why a single “Philippine ultrasound price” can be misleading.

An abdominal ultrasound is often how gallstones are first found. If removal is being considered, you can check the gallstone surgery cost in the Philippines to prepare for the operation.

What Does “Whole Abdomen” Usually Mean?

The exact organs included depend on the facility’s protocol. A whole-abdomen scan can include combinations of:

  • liver;
  • gallbladder;
  • pancreas;
  • spleen;
  • kidneys;
  • urinary bladder;
  • pelvic organs.

Do not assume every facility’s “whole abdomen” package covers exactly the same structures. For example, some hospitals separately price:

  • upper abdomen;
  • lower abdomen;
  • abdomen + pelvic;
  • abdomen + prostate;
  • KUB;
  • one-organ scans.

When comparing two prices, ask what organs are included.

Upper Abdomen Ultrasound Price

Published examples include:

  • Ilocos Sur Medical Center: ₱840
  • Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital: ₱850
  • Eastern Visayas government schedule: ₱1,183
  • Bicol Medical Center: ₱1,500
  • Chong Hua Hospital: ₱2,228

An upper-abdomen study commonly focuses on organs such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen, but hospital protocols can differ.

Transvaginal Ultrasound Price Philippines

A transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) is priced separately from an ordinary pelvic ultrasound at many facilities. Current public/provider examples include:

  • ₱750 — Bicol Medical Center
  • ₱830 — Ilocos Sur Medical Center
  • ₱1,200 — starting current private booking rate at Access Laboratory
  • ₱1,518 — Chong Hua Hospital
  • ₱1,900 — Exact Check booking example
  • ₱2,595 — Ashrey booking example
  • ₱3,000 — Fullerton Health BGC booking example

Private booking platforms currently show a starting TVS price around ₱1,200, but some higher-end facilities exceed ₱2,500–₱3,000.

Pregnant vs non-pregnant TVS

Do not assume all transvaginal ultrasound services are priced or coded identically. Providers may distinguish:

  • non-pregnant gynecologic TVS;
  • first-trimester pregnancy TVS;
  • TVS with Doppler;
  • 3D TVS;
  • fertility or specialized gynecologic scans.

Show the clinic the exact request before asking for a quote.

Pregnancy Ultrasound Price

Pregnancy ultrasound is not one single examination. Current published examples show several categories. Bicol Medical Center lists:

Obstetrical ultrasound — ₱500

Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center’s 2026 pricing includes:

Transabdominal OB ultrasound — ₱790

Current private booking examples for a pregnant pelvic ultrasound include:

  • Access Laboratory — ₱700 promotional price
  • Exact Check — ₱1,500
  • Healthway QualiMed — ₱1,530
  • Balbido Medical Clinic — ₱1,600
  • Hi-Precision — ₱2,400
  • Fullerton Health — ₱2,500

The type of pregnancy scan matters much more than the word “ultrasound.”

3D and 4D Ultrasound Price

3D and 4D pregnancy ultrasound should not be compared with an ordinary 2D pregnancy scan. A government hospital fee schedule from Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital lists examples such as:

  • OB transvaginal 3D — ₱1,600
  • Singleton 3D — ₱2,800
  • Singleton 4D — ₱3,300
  • Twin 4D — ₱3,800
  • Triplet 4D — ₱4,300

These rates are from an older March 2023 schedule, so CareCost PH does not treat them as universal 2026 rates. They are useful for showing how specialized 3D/4D studies can cost considerably more than basic pregnancy ultrasound.

Ask your facility for its current price before scheduling.

Pelvic Ultrasound Price

For a standard pelvic ultrasound, current government examples include:

  • Ilocos Sur Medical Center: ₱600
  • Fabella: ₱700
  • Bicol Medical Center: ₱750

Current private pregnancy-pelvic examples can run approximately ₱700–₱2,500 depending on provider and booking rate. A pelvic ultrasound may be ordered for very different reasons, and “pelvic pregnant” and “pelvic non-pregnant” can appear as separate services.

Confirm which one your request specifies.

Breast Ultrasound Price

Current published examples include:

  • Ilocos Sur Medical Center — ₱780
  • Eastern Visayas government schedule, bilateral breast — ₱1,430
  • Bicol Medical Center — ₱1,500
  • Hati/EC Care — ₱1,400 promotional price
  • Exact Check — ₱1,600
  • Healthway QualiMed — ₱2,200
  • NowExpress/Hi-Precision breast with axilla — ₱2,200
  • Chong Hua Hospital — ₱2,786
  • Fullerton Health BGC — ₱3,000

A breast ultrasound that includes the axilla/underarm lymph nodes may be listed differently from a simpler breast study. Do not assume that a one-breast study, bilateral breast ultrasound and breast-with-axilla examination are identical.

Thyroid Ultrasound Price

Current examples include:

  • Ilocos Sur Medical Center: ₱890
  • Eastern Visayas government schedule: ₱1,040
  • Bicol Medical Center: ₱1,500
  • Chong Hua Hospital: ₱1,638
  • Hi-Precision through NowExpress: ₱1,975

A full neck ultrasound may have a separate rate from thyroid ultrasound alone. For example, Chong Hua currently lists:

  • Thyroid — ₱1,638
  • Neck ultrasound — ₱1,754

Check which one your doctor actually requested.

A thyroid scan is one of the specialised ultrasound services with its own pricing. You can check the thyroid scan price.

KUB Ultrasound Price

KUB refers to the kidneys, ureters and bladder. Current examples include:

  • Ilocos Sur — ₱775
  • Bicol Medical Center — ₱1,250
  • Eastern Visayas government schedule — ₱1,183
  • Chong Hua — ₱1,638

Some facilities also list:

  • KUB + prostate;
  • KUB pre- and post-void;
  • kidneys only;
  • urinary bladder;
  • prostate only.

These are different services and can have different fees.

Doppler Ultrasound Can Cost Much More

“Doppler ultrasound” is too broad to price with one number. It can refer to blood-flow studies involving:

  • carotid arteries;
  • upper extremities;
  • lower extremities;
  • renal arteries;
  • fetal circulation;
  • placental circulation;
  • other blood vessels.

Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center’s 2026 price schedule lists bilateral extremity arterial and venous Doppler at ₱5,000.

An older Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital schedule lists even higher vascular Doppler rates depending on whether one or both limbs are examined.

That is why Doppler should not be mixed into the same price range as a basic abdominal or thyroid ultrasound. If your request says “with Doppler,” “venous Doppler,” “arterial Doppler,” “carotid Doppler,” or something similar, ask specifically for that exact study.

Imaging costs add up when several scans are needed. For a 2D echo, you can check the 2D echo price in the Philippines.

Public vs Private: Compare Actual Services, Not Labels

It is tempting to say: “Government ultrasound is ₱300–₱800 and private ultrasound is ₱1,500–₱3,500.” The actual published prices show a more complicated picture.

For example:

Ilocos Sur whole abdomen: ₱1,060
Bicol whole abdomen: ₱2,650
Chong Hua whole abdomen: ₱3,520
Access Laboratory: ₱1,700 promotional price
Fullerton Health BGC: ₱5,000 promotional booking price

A private diagnostic center can therefore sometimes publish a price close to or below a government-hospital rate, while some government procedures can exceed ₱2,000.

Compare:

Exact scan + published price + professional/report fee + preparation + benefit/discount eligibility rather than assuming facility type tells you the final cost.

Is the Radiologist or Reading Fee Included?

Do not assume it is. Some hospitals publish one ultrasound fee. Others separate:

  • procedure fee;
  • professional fee;
  • reading/interpretation fee;
  • supplies;
  • image reprinting;
  • bedside or portable charge.

Western Visayas Medical Center’s published schedule, for example, explicitly separates pay rate and professional fee for ultrasound procedures.

Meanwhile, Chong Hua states that its current prices cover procedure costs only.

Before booking, ask:

“Is this the total ultrasound price including the professional/reading fee and official report?”

How to Prepare for Your Ultrasound

Preparation depends on the exact examination.

Whole abdomen / upper abdomen

Facilities commonly require fasting. Hi-Precision’s current whole-abdomen booking instructions require at least six hours without food and also require a full bladder for the procedure.

Follow your facility’s instructions rather than using one universal fasting rule.

Pelvic / KUB / urinary studies

You may be told to arrive with a full bladder. The amount of water and timing can differ, especially for people who have fluid restrictions.

Transvaginal ultrasound

TVS is commonly performed with an empty bladder rather than a full bladder.

Thyroid / breast / superficial ultrasound

These generally require much less preparation than an abdominal scan. Always confirm the instructions when booking because preparation affects image quality and can differ by protocol.

Do You Need a Doctor’s Request?

Many hospitals and diagnostic centers expect a doctor’s request for diagnostic ultrasound so they know:

  • the body area;
  • clinical reason;
  • exact protocol;
  • whether Doppler is needed.

However, facility policies differ. Some outpatient clinics advertise walk-in imaging. So rather than stating that a prescription is universally mandatory, ask:

“Do I need to bring the original doctor’s request for this ultrasound?”

Does PhilHealth Cover Ultrasound?

There is no single PhilHealth benefit that pays for every standalone outpatient ultrasound. Coverage depends on why the ultrasound is being performed and which benefit package applies.

If you are admitted to the hospital

PhilHealth’s inpatient benefits are generally paid through All Case Rates.

That means an ultrasound performed as part of an eligible admission may form part of the overall hospital care covered by the applicable case rate rather than having a universal standalone ultrasound reimbursement amount.

Important new 2026 pregnancy ultrasound benefit

PhilHealth expanded its maternity-care benefits in 2026.

Under its Diagnostic Antenatal Care benefit, two ultrasound services are specifically included:

Pregnancy Ultrasound BenefitPhilHealth Benefit Rate
First-trimester transvaginal ultrasound₱1,000
Pelvic ultrasound in the second or third trimester₱1,000

PhilHealth’s circular states that two ultrasound tests are reimbursable, with the pelvic ultrasound claimable once in either the second or third trimester.

It also states that routine antenatal diagnostic services under the covered program should be bundled and at no cost to the patient when provided under the applicable benefit rules.

This is much more specific than saying simply:

“PhilHealth covers pregnancy ultrasound.”

Ask your antenatal-care provider whether you are being referred under the Expanded Maternity Care Benefit and which accredited ultrasound facility to use.

Breast ultrasound under YAKAP cancer screening

PhilHealth has also announced selected outpatient cancer-screening coverage under YAKAP. For breast-cancer screening, PhilHealth states that the benefit includes: Breast ultrasound — ₱1,350 along with mammography coverage for eligible screening.

That does not mean any self-requested breast ultrasound at any facility will automatically receive a ₱1,350 deduction. The applicable YAKAP/cancer-screening rules and contracted provider requirements still matter.

Can an HMO Cover Ultrasound?

Possibly. Current Philippine imaging providers such as Patient First state that HMO/insurance coverage can apply to ultrasound services, but the exact benefit depends on the patient’s plan. Before scheduling, ask:

  • Is this exact ultrasound covered?
  • Is the facility accredited?
  • Do I need an LOA?
  • Is the radiologist fee covered?
  • Is Doppler included?
  • Is there a co-payment?
  • Is pregnancy ultrasound covered under my maternity benefit?

Do not assume all ultrasound types are treated the same by your HMO.

Senior Citizen Discount

Qualified senior citizens are entitled to a 20% discount and VAT exemption, where applicable, on medically necessary diagnostic services in private facilities under RA 9994.

The law also provides free diagnostic and laboratory services in government facilities for eligible senior citizens, subject to applicable implementing rules. Because ultrasound is a diagnostic service, ask the billing department to apply the applicable senior benefit before payment.

PWD Discount

RA 10754 and its implementing rules provide qualified PWDs with at least a 20% discount on eligible medical, diagnostic and laboratory services, including applicable professional fees.

This can apply to diagnostic imaging such as ultrasound when the legal requirements are met. Bring valid PWD identification and have the facility calculate the applicable benefit.

Questions to Ask Before Booking

Take a photo of your doctor’s request and ask the facility:

  1. What is the exact price for this ultrasound?
  2. What organs or body areas are included?
  3. Is the radiologist/sonologist professional fee included?
  4. Is the official report included?
  5. Do I need to fast?
  6. Do I need a full or empty bladder?
  7. Do I need a doctor’s request?
  8. Does my HMO require an LOA?
  9. Does PhilHealth apply to this particular scan?
  10. Can I use my senior/PWD benefit?

These questions are more useful than asking only:

“Magkano ultrasound?”

Before You Choose a Facility

There is no useful single number for “ultrasound price Philippines.” A realistic comparison begins with the exact words on your request:

whole abdomen, upper abdomen, KUB, pelvic, TVS, OB, breast, thyroid, Doppler, or another ultrasound type.

For many ordinary scans, budgeting roughly ₱500–₱2,000 at several government facilities or approximately ₱1,400–₱3,500 at many private/provider examples is a reasonable starting point from the rates reviewed.

But whole-abdomen ultrasound at some private facilities can exceed ₱4,000–₱5,000, and specialized Doppler studies can cost much more.

The most useful question to ask is:

“Here is my doctor’s request. What is the total price for this exact ultrasound, including the professional/reading fee and report?”

Medical note: Prices are for general information and can change. The appropriate ultrasound type and timing should be determined by the healthcare professional managing your care.
